Bytte til nyere girkasse M40

Post by Torbo2 »

Here is also a interesting site about installing a M40 in place of the M4. http://www.sure-vent.com/M40Trans.htm

+/- 0,1 er nok for meg her.. :)

The M41 is the overdrive transmission. The M40 has the same ratios as the M41, but with no overdrive. For overdrives, there are two types: D & J. You also have the choice of the M31, which is a three speed with overdrive. The D type is shorter, but the M type is longer and stronger. The M type is also wider, so it may not work in the drive tunnel on earlier models.

I haven't done the swap yet, but when you decide to do it, weld the holes shut on the M40 and even them out. Then make a template off of the M4 and use it on the M40. Also, you could try and find a M41 off of another PV and take the drive shaft with it. These transmissions will bolt up to the B18 and B20 without any problems, but you need to modify them when using them with the B16. The shaft needs to be cut, bellhousing slotted, and the case drilled.

I would do this while the engine is out of the car.

alternative to cutting the clutch shaft is to drill larger holes in the crank shaft, as shown on the first link on the top of the thread.
So what is the best choice is the ikek easy to say, but both works ...
