Thanks you self!lukeball wrote:Torbo2, what is your actual name? You go by Torbo on the Swedish Amazon forum, right?
I don't want to go with the VV-81, because I think that it is too big. I would rather go with an F or R cam, if I was going to go larger. I would try VV-71 on the intake and VV-81 on the exhaust. Are you currently running for a cam in your B22? The D cam? Where can I buy a good D cam from?
Actually, what are the specifications for your motor? What carbs are you using? I can't seem to find a lot of information about good cams for the B22. What other cams would you recommend?
Lastly, is it ok that I am posting in this thread, or should I start a new one on this forum? Thanks.
Torbo2 = Torbo, but do not tell anyone!
Regarding the HW-81 and HW-71 you probably know more about what is true to your needs than me.
F-comb is tempting, the should be adjusted slightly forward for more bottom drag? (My opinion).
R-comb is useless, as I have run with it for two years, combined with two SU carburetors. Carburetors spat back and the engine went sour - used too much fuel. And lacked power below 2500 r / min.
R-cam: 102 degres betwen the nocks - (nockangle) i no good. Sholult at least be 104-108 or more...
I bought my D-comb in Norway, but VP-Auto Parts in Sveeden is probably less expensive and is a major retailer. Many of the Swedish club like D-comb and can withstand everything from singel carburators to dual Weber/Solex. I used two-stage 36/36 and 32/36 Weber on Misab intake, with very good results. I moved the cam around. 4 degrees forward for more power at lower revs and better idle.
In my Amazon B22 - 93 mm bore (syl. dia.), Compression 10,5:1, with head gasket steel (cutting seal), I had (expensive) racing valves, 46/38, extra light, and ported cylinder heads rose II +.
I spent 8 - bolted crankshaft from a newer B21 engine and Volvo's M-rods (not just great, a bit heavy). B20 rods. The original is easier and probably better, but must be polished and weighed and reamer up to 24 mm piston pin.
The flywheel was lightened quite a bit, can not remember how much now, (halved weight approx.), Which helped to make the engine revs willingly. It was perhaps a bit much?
Now I would choose regular flywheel? for better idling?
About VV-81 on the exhaust, I would think that VV_71 is good enough?, When the exhaust is less of a problem to get rid of than to get good filling. Otherwise I do not know much more about these camshaft, except specifications ....
And you know better what you will have in your engine...
To recommend comb is not easy. But I've heard great things about KGS (KG10 and KG17), and enem´s, I have mounted a Fiat Spider with good results. Both types are hardened, but a not all make.
Chamber of People's Race Shop in Sweden, for example, not cured ...
I also used K-comb, but it was quickly exhausted! Quite similar to D-kam and more therefore recommend D instead of K, then K has a bit too quick boost with poor lubrication.
Regarding the thread on the forum, there is no problem for hlyshaug and post here, but create a separate thread will probably be even better. But you must decide for yourself ....
Do not know if this can be useful for you? Do not know if my choice is good, but I was happy. Unfortunately my Amazon sold , when I had to limit the number of cars, when I only have three garages and a house on a farm - not mine.
In Norway there are cold winters and lots of salt on the roads and such rest we are talking about should be inside in the winter.
Im thinking of to make a better lubrication on the 8 cams? may be I can find a good soluton?
Do you know of a good solutions here?
Now it is late in the evening here....
